About I"ll Be Here Awhile

"I"ll Be Here Awhile" is a single by alternative rock band 311. It is the 12th and closing track on their album From Chaos. Lead singer Nick Hexum originally wrote it when he was twenty, hence the line in the refrain "Twenty years of age, " though Hexum was thirty when he recorded it. He comments on the interview included on the disc of From Chaos that he was living a wild and crazy life at that young age. The incubadoradeartistas.com "And if a person, place, or thing can deliver/ I will quiver with delight" are taken directly from "The Lust, The Flesh, The Eyes, and the Pride of Life" a song by the Christian alternative rock group The 77s which had appeared on their 1987 self-titled album. "I"ll Be Here Awhile" made it to position 15 on the Modern Rock Tracks in 2001.more »

I"ll be here a while, ain"t going nowhereI"ll be here a while, ain"t going nowhereI"ll be here a while, ain"t going nowhereI"ll be here a whileFar is solace in the maddening paceSad state written on my faceNot a tight rope walk but dance, (whoa whoa)Uncertain game of chance, (whoa whoa)But I"ll see it through in timeI"ll be here a while, ain"t going nowhereI"ll be here a while, ain"t going nowhereI"ll be here a while, ain"t going nowhereI"ll be here a whileAnd if a person place or thing can deliver I would quiver with delightTempted by the hand that could blind my vision and sightBut at twenty years of age, (whoa whoa)In frolic and in rage, (whoa whoa)I will see it through in timeI"ll be here a while, ain"t going nowhereI"ll be here a while, ain"t going nowhereI"ll be here a while, ain"t going nowhereI"ll be here a whileBut the dawn has come into the endless nightAnd everything, is going to be alrightBut at thirty years of age, (whoa whoa)Through frolic and in rage, (whoa whoa)All regressed and healed in timeI"ll be here a while, ain"t going nowhereSaid I, said I, said I, I will survive
