Pretty Little Liars just cleared up one of the show"s most major issues: Who killed Charlotte DiLaurentis.

It turns out that Charlotte died while fighting with Mona, but her death was an accident. In a flashback, viewers learned that Charlotte was ready to start the A game all over again after her release from Radley. But Mona wasn"t going to let that happen — she wanted to protect her friends from getting hurt again.

At the church tower (seriously, why do people still go up there when so much scary stuff has gone down there?), Mona maneuvered Charlotte to the edge of the open window and told her to jump. Charlotte taunted Mona, digging into her insecurities about caring for a group of girls who would never fully accept her. That set Mona off, and the argument got physical. In the fight, Charlotte"s head knocked against a pipe in the wall, and she died.

Wow. That happened. #PLLEndGame

The episode jumped back into the present. Mona experienced some kind of breakdown as a result of reliving that terrible night, and wound up going to the hospital to seek treatment.

Learning the truth about Charlotte"s death was a major turning point for the Liars. As a result, A.D. stopped tormenting them. Whoever the shady sociopath is, he or she took Archer"s body out of Aria"s car (finally) and buried it in Charles" false grave. When Mary Drake "fessed up to the police about the burial spot, that removed the final piece of A.D."s blackmail against the girls.

That seems to pave the way for one last major reveal during the two-hour finale on June 27: A.D."s identity. Whether you believe the theories about Spencer"s twin or think it"s someone else entirely, that night can"t come soon enough.
